Why it Matters?

Every badge represents real change: lower costs for businesses, cleaner oceans and forests, and a stronger local economy built on sustainability.
Whether you run a tiny café or a luxury resort, joining Planet Positive Bali shows the world—and your customers—that you are proudly part of Bali’s planet-positive future.

Our Mission

Planet Positive Bali is a youth-led movement helping businesses across the island become genuinely climate-friendly.

We guide cafés, hotels, schools, shops and more to cut waste, lower emissions and adopt responsible sourcing—then we certify their progress so customers can confidently choose businesses that care for the planet.

How We Work

We start with a detailed audit of each business’s current practices.
Next we create a custom action plan—covering recycling, composting, energy efficiency, education and community engagement—connecting every partner to trusted local NGOs.
After improvements are implemented we return for a re-audit, and successful businesses earn the Planet Positive Bali badge as proof of their commitment.

A Message From Our Founder

Hi, I’m Daren, a 17-year-old student living in Bali. I first imagined Planet Positive Bali after witnessing how the effects of climate change, waste and pollution were hitting my own community; floods after sudden downpours, plastic-filled rivers, and heat waves that grow stronger every year. These problems don’t just hurt the scenery that visitors come to enjoy; they hurt the Balinese people and local communities who rely on healthy land and clean water for their homes, culture and livelihoods. When drains are clogged with plastic, it is our neighbors who face flooding in their streets and houses.

As Bali’s tourism and business scene keeps expanding, I’ve seen how cafés, hotels and shops can unintentionally create huge amounts of waste, much of which ends up in rivers and eventually the ocean. I created Planet Positive Bali to help businesses become part of the solution: to cut carbon emissions, reduce plastic pollution, and protect the island we all depend on. My hope is to show that young people can lead real change, and that every business whether it is large or small, can help keep Bali’s environment and its communities safe, healthy, and resilient for generations to come.

Sincerely,
Daren Putrawan
